“The fabric was a dream to use. It felt smooth, it didn't fray at the seams like other heavier fabrics I had used.”

She also made a 16” cushion to add an extra festive feel to her bedroom.

Tartan Christmas Decorations by Blush Crafts

Christmas Tree Decorations

Vicky of Blush Crafts has used our Culloden Ancient Light Weight tartan to make a simple, step-by-step guide on crafting the perfect Christmas tree decorations.

tartan Christmas tree decorations

It takes four simple steps. As Vicky describes on her website, simply:

“1. First make a triangular template from card, lay it on your fabric and cut out two triangles.

2. Place one on top of the other and pin in place trapping a short piece of ribbon at the top for a hanger.

3. Stitch/stick together leaving a small opening to put in the stuffing and cinnamon stick. Cut back the seam allowance with pinking shears.

4. Place a small amount of stuffing and a cinnamon stick inside and stitch up the opening.”

Vicky suggests if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can stitch these beauties by hand or use fabric club or hemming tape.

The great thing about this tutorial is you can choose whichever tartan you like to make these decorations. A must-make for decorating your Christmas tree!

Tartan Bauble Decorations

Vicky also used the same tartan to a create quick and easy DIY baubles for her Christmas Tree.

As described on her website, simply:

“1. Cut 2 cm wide strips of fabric. Preferably cut diagonally across the bias of the fabric to make them stretchy.

2. Then simply wrap the strips around a polystyrene foam ball until it's completely covered, securing each end of the strip with glue.

3. Make a hanger with a length of narrow ribbon pinned into the foam ball with a pin.”

Too easy!
