This oversized scarf has been woven using the finest wool and cashmere yarn blend to create a super soft, luxurious and enveloping handle. Finished with a short pin fringe, it is a wonderful addition to any wardrobe. Styled to perfection in a range of classic tartans, giving a timeless appeal for both menswear and womenswear.
Caledonia Ruby is a deep red and sage green based tartan with blue, camel and white overchecks.
It is possible that this was one of the Strome tartans favoured by the fashionable ladies of Edinburgh, who disapproved of the Act of Union and were anti-government and pro-Jacobite in their sympathies. As a sign of their feelings, they were known to have worn tartan plaids and silken scarves. Since it belongs to no clan, it is one of those setts which anyone not possessing a tartan of his or her own is entitled to wear. The age of this Strome tartan is unknown but it almost certainly existed at the beginning of the 18th century.
