Lochcarron of Scotland started weaving tartan at North Strome, Lochcarron, in the late 1940s, and since that time, we have woven tartans for Clans and families wherever Scots people settled throughout the world. To recognise the area and its association with tartan manufacture, the Lochcarron tartan was introduced in 1982. As Lochcarron is located in what was "Ross and Cromarty", the hunting Ross tartan inspired the design, with blue tones incorporated to indicate the strong influence of the sea on the life of the region.
