MacQueen Modern

MacQueen Modern

Of West Highland origin, the MacQueens appear to have associated themselves with the Clan Donald. During the 13th century they were in Argyllshire and later, in Skye and Lewis. A number of Hebridean MacQueens settled in Strathdearn and became septs of Clan Chattan. They possessed Corryburgh in the 16th century and appear to have been quite strong at this time. Corryburgh passed out of their possession in the 18th century. Donald MacQueen was Sheriff Substitute of Inverness in the 18th century. Robert McQueen, the well-known lawyer, who became Lord Braxfield, belonged to a Lanarkshire family of MacQueens. Badges - Boxwood, Red Whortleberry.
