Newfoundland Canadian

Newfoundland is the most easterly province of Canada and is situated in the country's Atlantic region. This provincial tartan was designed in 1955 to showcase the radiant culture and landscapes of Newfoundland. The colours represent the official anthem "Ode to Newfoundland", with gold symbolising the sun’s rays, green tones for the pine forests, white for snow, brown for the minerals found in the region, and red to recognise the Royal Standard. The Newfoundland tartan was officially registered in 1973 with the Court of Lord Lyon, King of Arms of Scotland.
