Situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders is our Lochcarron of Scotland HQ and authentic textile weaving mill. As the world’s leading tartan manufacturer, we take immense pride in our traditional manufacturing process with skilled craftsmanship and textile heritage. From designing and weaving to kilt-making, much of our production processes take place in-house at our mill and sewing workroom, giving us complete control over each stage. Providing authenticity, quality, and attention to detail in every piece.
The Scottish Borders has a rich textile heritage, and we’re proud to be part of that continuing story. By harnessing local craftsmanship and time-honoured techniques, we create timeless, durable designs that reflect our heritage. This expertise is passed down to the next generation, ensuring the continuity and preservation of traditional techniques while embracing modern advancements.
While the traditional process of weaving remains the same now as it always has been, we continue to evolve and innovate. Recent investments in new machinery have enhanced our efficiency and sustainability, allowing us to meet growing demand while reducing our environmental impact. At the same time, we continue to utilise traditional older textile machinery within our production processes, including our Hattersley warping mill and Holt soft winding machine, which are around a century old. These characterful pieces, adapted for modern use, still deliver exceptional results.
