Malcolm Ancient

Argyllshire is the home of this clan, and the name Malcolm is the English equivalent of the Gaelic Callum. The lands of Craignish were given to Reginald MacCallum of Corbarron in 1414 together with the Constableship of the Castles of Lochaffy and Craignish. In the 17th century Corbarron was bequeathed to Zachary MacCallum of Poltalloch. The Poltalloch family possessed their lands prior to 1562. Dugald MacCallum of Poltalloch, who succeeded to the estate in 1779, is said to have been the first to adopt the name Malcolm. Badge - Mountain Ash.
