Singh

This tartan was originally designed by Lochcarron of Scotland in 1999 for Mr Sirdar Iqbal Singh of Lesmahagow, Glasgow. The shades chosen for the design include a blue ground, a special Singh colour, yellow symbolising peace, green for the landholdings of ‘Grandfather Singh’ and red and white in recognition of Mrs Singh, who is of Swiss origin. After its creation, Mr Singh commissioned portraits of himself wearing his new tartan from his daughters, Amrit and Rabindra Singh. Although designed for Mr Singh, this tartan is available to all and can be worn by anyone bearing the name, as well as any Asians with Scottish connections.
