United States St. Andrews
This tartan was originally designed to celebrate the American Bicentennial in 1976, but was later adopted as the tartan of the St. Andrews Societies of America. The societies are organisations set up by those with Scottish ancestry to celebrate Scottish Heritage worldwide, and many are named in honour of Scotland’s patron saint St Andrew. St Andrews Day is celebrated by Scots far and wide on the 30th of November each year. Some societies restrict their membership to people born in Scotland or their descendants, however, this tartan can be worn and enjoyed by all.
